"I am so happy I chose to correct my problem, my confidence has skyrocketed and sex is enjoyable again!"

Perineoplasty is a procedure in which the area near the opening of the vagina is surgically repaired and tightened. The entrance of the vagina will be narrowed and strengthened resulting in improvement of vaginal tightness and tone for intercourse. Perineal repair is often performed in conjunction with vaginoplasty, but it may also be performed as a single surgery. This simple outpatient procedure restores the normal function and appearance of the perineum.

What is perineoplasty?

Perineoplasty is a procedure in which the area near the opening of the vagina is surgically repaired and tightened. Perineal repair is often performed in conjunction with vaginoplasty, but it may also be performed as a single surgery. Who is a candidate for perineoplasty?

If you feel laxity of the vaginal area during intercourse or you have decreased sensation during normal sex, you may be a candidate for vaginal tightening.  Women who have a history of traumatic vaginal deliveries or other traumas to the vaginal canal should be evaluated for vaginal laxity if they suspect it as a cause for sexual dysfunction or discomfort.

What is the Recovery for perineoplasty?

Most patients return to work within a few days after this procedure. Pain is managed by over-the-counter or prescription medication. In the first few days, some minor bleeding is not uncommon and wearing a sanitary pad is recommended. The incision should be kept clean and dry. Stitches usually dissolve in about two weeks. Patients are advised to drink plenty of water and increase fiber intake to avoid constipation. Most activities may be resumed in four weeks. Patients should abstain from sexual intercourse for six weeks or until directed by your surgeon.

Are there any risks with perineoplasty?

The risks associated with this procedure are primarily infection and bleeding. Antibiotics can be prescribed for infection but more serious infections may require surgery.  With modern procedure techniques, bleeding is generally kept to a minimum. Some patients may experience changes in bowel habits like constipation which can be treated by Increasing fiber and drinking adequate amounts of water but a stool softener may also be used.  Some patients may even experience mild incontinence which is usually temporary. Muscle injury resulting in persistent incontinence is very rare but may require additional surgery to repair. Overall, perineoplasty is a very safe procedure when performed by an experienced surgeon.

What is the cost of perineoplasty?

The costs for perineoplasty vary widely and will depend on the extent of the repair required. The average range for this procedure in Chicago is $2500-$6000. At FemSculpt we offer competitive pricing as well as many financing options to assist patients financially.
