Dr. Truong is triple board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, the
American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic
Surgery. He serves as an officer on the Board of Trustees of the American Board
of Cosmetic Surgery.
He began his formal education at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana with
a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Med and English, where he received the Notre
Dame Scholar award, and completed his medical doctorate at the University of
Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. His surgical training followed at the
University of Illinois and the Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago: five
years covering cancer, burn, vascular, trauma, and minimally invasive surgery.
He served as chief resident at Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Lutheran
General Hospital, and was published in medical journals for his work with skin
regeneration.
After his surgical training he received the American Academy of Cosmetic
Surgery Fellowship, specializing in facial rejuvenation, breast and body
restoration, liposuction, body sculpting, and minimally invasive aesthetic and
laser surgery. He then undertook a three-year apprenticeship in aesthetic
plastic surgery under Michael Byun, MD, of Chicago Cosmetic Surgery.
He co-founded FemSculpt with
Dr. Sue Kafali, a
board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, so that a Chicago practice could
offer cosmetic gynecology with a surgeon on each side of that expertise.
