A fat transfer is more long-lasting. In autologous fat transfer, the fat is harvested from other areas such as your abdomen or inner thighs. This procedure should be done by a surgeon in the operating room and may require anesthesia.

After a labial puff procedure, you can expect some swelling and discomfort of the vulvar area, which can last for two weeks or more. You will be instructed to apply ice to the area a few times a day for the first week and keep the area clean with warm water washes. Most patients will find comfort in sitting on a soft pillow. You can usually return to work in less than one week and resume exercise at two to three weeks. You will be asked to abstain from sexual activity for six weeks. Swelling and fat resorption can take up to three months to fully settle, which is when you see your final result. Individual recovery varies.

It depends on your anatomy and on how long you want the result to last. Filler is placed in the office under local anesthetic and is repeated every three to six months. Fat transfer is done in the operating room, may require anesthesia, and lasts considerably longer.
