Four Ways to Treat the Labia Majora

Reduction

Tissue of the labia majora is excised. Where excess skin is causing wrinkling, reduction tightens the outer lips for a tighter, smoother appearance. Where the labia majora are excessively large, liposuction can remove some of the fat for a more petite appearance.

Majora-pexy

A lift rather than a removal. The loose tissue of the labia majora is stretched and lifted to create a more youthful, tighter appearance.

Augmentation

Also called a labial puff. Volume is added back to deflated labia majora with fat transfer or dermal filler.

Resurfacing

Skin resurfacing and lightening for women whose main concern is the texture or the darkening of the labia skin rather than its shape.

Recovery

What Healing Actually Looks Like

You will know what to expect before you book. Dr. Kafali walks you through recovery in your consultation, then sends you home with it in writing. Following those post-op instructions is what gives you the least scarring and the best outcome.

First 48 hours

Swelling and Ice

Expect some swelling and potential bruising. Minor bleeding is not uncommon. Discomfort is real and is lessened with ice and pain medication.

Days 2 to 3

Back to Work

Most patients can return to work in two to three days.

Weeks 1 to 2

Bruising Settles

Most bruising and swelling should resolve in less than two weeks. Some residual swelling may last longer.

Week 6

Intimacy and Activity

You will be asked to abstain from intercourse for six weeks, until the tissues are fully healed. Bike riding and horseback riding should also be avoided during that time.
