What is the Difference Between Vaginal Tightening & Mini-Vaginal Tightening?
Good candidates for this procedure would be anyone who has lost tightness in the vagina, is not feeling satisfied, or reaching climax. Many women who come in for this procedure have had previous deliveries, bad coughs, constipation, or exercise heavily. The surgery will bring the tone and the tightness back to their everyday life. The tighter vagina will increase friction during intimacy, leaving both the patient and their partner satisfied.
How is mini-vaginal tightening performed?
A Mini-Vaginal Tightening procedure is identical to a full traditional vaginoplasty, but with a smaller incision due to the extent of the tightening needed is less. During the procedure, Dr. Kafali will perform an internal and external examination to determine the amount of tightening needed. Internal tightening is done by removing the excess tissue from the posterior wall of the vaginal canal. The canal is then sutured together to create a more narrow space. The external opening is tightened as well by removing some tissue from the posterior opening of the vagina or introitus. Great care must be taken to not overly tighten the tissues, which may result in difficulty and pain with intercourse.
What type of anesthesia is used for the procedure?
Dr. Kafali performs the Mini-vaginal tightening procedure under Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), a sedation technique that administers medications intravenously to induce relaxation and drowsiness in the patient. This method, commonly referred to as "twilight anesthesia" or conscious sedation, allows patients to remain comfortable and minimally aware during the procedure.
Am I a candidate for mini-vaginal tightening?
Ideal candidates for this procedure are individuals experiencing decreased vaginal tightness or difficulty achieving orgasm due to reduced friction during intimacy. Many women seeking this treatment have a history of childbirth, chronic coughing, constipation, or engage in strenuous physical activity. The procedure aims to restore vaginal tone and tightness, enhancing overall quality of life.
Who is not a candidate for mini-vaginal tightening?
Women who have been post-menopausal for ten years or longer may not be suitable candidates for mini vaginal tightening because there might not be enough tissue to effectively tighten the vaginal walls. During your consultation, Dr. Kafali will discuss alternative treatment options that might be better suited for your needs.

What is the downtime for the mini-vaginal tightening™ procedure?
The downtime is 1 week and patients should expect to take time off of work. After the Mini-Vaginal Tightening™ procedure, you may experience some minimal swelling and bruising. Your first post-operative visit is scheduled within 11-13 days following your surgery. The vaginal canal will have a special packing inside that is removed 24 hours after the procedure. Peri ice packs are used for three days to help manage swelling. Dr. Kafali will provide comprehensive post-operative care instructions prior to your procedure.
