What is Mons Pubis Liposuction?
The mons is the area of fatty and fleshy tissues covering and protecting the pubic bone.
Mons pubis liposuction is for women with excessive skin folds or unwanted fat in the mons pubis region. Women see the undesirable effects of age, hormonal changes, childbirth, weight changes, and other factors on their bodies, but this area is exceptionally troublesome. It can even affect urination in the case of excessive amounts of fat and skin.
Mons pubis liposuction also called a monsplasty, is a minimally invasive procedure where your surgeon changes the visual aesthetics of an enlarged mons to improve the cosmetic appearance. The procedure removes the unwanted pocket of fat.
How Does Mons Pubis Liposuction Help?
Besides helping you create the physical appearance you desire, it also reduces friction and visual discomfort while wearing tighter-fitting clothes, like leggings or yoga pants. It’s often performed simultaneously as vaginal rejuvenation to improve overall appearance in the female genitalia.
Your mons pubis liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure. The procedure will be performed in our certified, and state-of-the-art surgical suite by Dr. Kafali is board-certified in Obstetrics Gynecology. She is regarded as a top expert in women’s reproductive health. She holds accreditation in minimally invasive robotic surgery, making her one of the top cosmetic gynecology surgeons in Chicago and the country.
How is the mons pubis reduction procedure performed?
The procedure requires general anesthesia to minimize any patient discomfort. During your mons pubis liposuction, Dr. Kafali will make a tiny incision on the mons region to insert a cannula tube. The device allows the surgeon to suction away the unwanted fat from the mons region. The remaining skin is lifted for a more cosmetic appearance if skin excision is done. The underlying muscles may be raised and then tightened.
Mons pubis liposuction usually includes a short recovery period from three days to a week. Pain is mild and decreases in a few days. You should expect some general swelling and bruising in the area of the surgery. Depending on the procedures and your body’s healing capacity, your surgeon will give you instructions to avoid strenuous physical activities and sexual intercourse for at least 3 to 6 weeks. Still, you can resume work and many everyday activities within a few days.
Does a Tummy Tuck Also Lift the Mons Pubis?
One of the benefits of a tummy tuck is improving your pubic region’s appearance. Women are even happier with their decision to have tummy tuck surgery when it comes time to put on a swimsuit. The tummy tuck procedure focuses on contouring, trimming, and tightening the skin and muscles around your abdomen and tummy. That can have a dramatic effect on other parts of your body. When the weight of excess fat and skin from your belly has been removed, it may resolve the heaviness in your mons pubis.
There are many reasons why women wish to have a pubic mons lipo and lift, including:
- Self-consciousness in clothing
- Difficulty urinating
- More enjoyment during intimacy
